Are you stuck with a difficult problem in your research?  Contact us and we may be able to help by bringing a fresh pair of eyes to the problem, or accessing archives which you have not yet discovered.
We can conduct research to your requirements at local records offices in our area, saving you travelling time and expense.  We do not charge for travelling time within 25 miles of our home address.  This covers:-
  • Hampshire Archives
  • Southampton Archives
  • Portsmouth History Centre
  • West Sussex Records Office
  • Naval Historical Branch
We can also conduct research at other archives including the National Archives at Kew.  In these cases travel time for the first 25 miles is free, beyond 25 miles there is a charge.
In addition to archive research we can also conduct other tasks such as locating and photographing gravestones in local churchyards and cemeteries, locating and photographing former places of residence of your ancestors, transcribing old documents, etc.

Price

Hourly rate for research and writing-up research report: £22
Travel time to locations within 25 miles, excluding the Isle of Wight: Free
Travel time beyond 25 miles: £10 per hour
Mileage to locations within 25 miles, excluding the Isle of Wight: Free
Mileage beyond 25 miles: £0.45 per mile
All other expenses are charged at cost.  This includes, but is not limited to: car parking, rail travel, archive access charges, photography permits, etc.  Receipts can be provided if required.
